After the successful creation of our online shop, Dalvie Store, we appointed Lee Stewart from Yellow Marshmallow web design to redesign our main, project management website. 

The new site is a far cry from the older version with a 'meet the team' section (because you want to know who you're dealing with when you phone us up!), a plethora of case studies and testimonials, as well as links to our online shop. The site is also far more visually appealing with an animated logo in the centre of page (yes, we've spent a considerable amount of time hovering our mouse over it) and a high resolution image carousel displaying both warehouse refurbishment projects and office furniture products.

Just a quick note to introduce Dalvie Storage Systems Ltd and the products that we offer. To those of you who read this blog regularly this blog post is irrelevant, however to those of you who have stumbled across our blog at random and want to know more about our company here's a little introduction to Dalvie Systems...

Warehouse Safety 101 - A heightened experience

Working at height can be dangerous and therefore should be properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out in as safe a way as possible.

According to the HSE, falls from height remain the most common cause of workplace fatality. In 2008/09 there were 35 fatalities, 4654 major injuries and a further 7065 injuries that caused the injured person to be off work for over 3 days or more, due to a fall from height.

Warehouse Safety 101 - Manual handling made easy!

Lifting heavy items in the workplace can result in lower back pain and neck pain if you're not careful. HSE.co.uk (Health & Safety Executive) suggests that where there is a risk from a manual handling task, you should try to avoid the task first and if the task cannot be avoided, then the risk of injury occurring must be minimised.

In order to minimise the risk of injury, carry out a manual handling assessment which focuses on:
- the task
- the load
- the working environment
- individual capability
- other factors

If, after completing a risk assessment, the risk is still too great then consider using systems to assist manual handling such as trucks and trolleys.
